Domaine de la Commaraine
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru “Aux Bousselots” 2023
Description
The conviction that great wines would be born at Domaine de la Commaraine was absolute. Paul Krug’s sensitivity to terroir, the rigor of biodynamic farming, and the tireless work in the vineyards now lie at the heart of one of the most impressive revivals in contemporary Burgundy.
There is something particularly special about tasting a Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru with this level of detail and energy. In the Aux Bousselots climat, that identity is expressed with clarity: a wine that brings together intensity and balance, power and precision, without ever losing its elegance.
Aux Bousselots 2023 displays a deep, luminous purple color. On the nose, the fruit is lively and expressive, with notes of ripe plum and raspberry, revealing a more open and enveloping profile. On the palate, the entry is generous, with successive waves of fruit building naturally, supported by solid balance and a confident texture. The acidity never dominates, yet everything is perfectly in place, creating a sense of harmony and depth.
Located at the northern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges, close to the border with Vosne-Romanée, the Aux Bousselots parcel benefits from a singular elegance within the classic structure of the appellation. The soils are clay-limestone with very fine clay and slightly sandy zones, lending the wine a more silky and precise expression.
The result is a Pinot Noir of classic Burgundian character with a contemporary reading: intense, balanced, and deeply rooted in its terroir, with excellent aging potential.
