Domaine de la Vougeraie Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022
Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Overview

A domaine of relatively recent history, Domaine de la Vougeraie has rapidly earned a place among the world’s most collectible Burgundy producers, with stratospheric scores and growing international acclaim. The respect for terroir is clearly reflected in their 20+ years of biodynamic farming, initiated under Pascal Marchand and continued with the ethereal, pure-fruited style established by Pierre Vincent (now at Domaine Leflaive) and maintained today by Sylvie Poillot. The domaine’s vineyard holdings are extraordinary, highlighted by Clos Blanc de Vougeot, described by Jasper Morris MW as the finest white of the Côte de Nuits.

Tasting Notes

A deep and aristocratic Grand Cru. Ripe black fruits, damp earth, dry leaves, floral touches and subtle spices. Concentrated palate with fine yet firm tannins, precise acidity, and a long finish with vibrant minerality. A wine built to evolve gracefully for decades.

Scores

92–96 points – Jasper Morris MW
“Fruit from the plot in the upper part of the Clos retains 50% of the stems, while the lower block is destemmed. A very light reduction. An attractive balanced red fruit, along with some chocolate notes, and Sylvie suggests a little tobacco which I can now see. A good thread of acidity throughout, not especially demonstrative despite the nuances. Drink from 2032–2040. Tasted: November 2023.”
