Of relatively recent history, the domaine has gained enormous stature in the world of collectible wines, achieving stratospheric scores in major guides and being hailed as one of Burgundy’s most promising estates. Its profound respect for terroir is reflected in over 20 years of biodynamic farming, initiated under Pascal Marchand and continued by Pierre Vincent (now at Domaine Leflaive), who steered the domaine toward more ethereal wines of delicacy and purity — a direction maintained today by Sylvie Poillot.
The domaine’s vineyard holdings are remarkable, with particular emphasis on Clos Blanc de Vougeot, considered by Jasper Morris MW to be the finest white wine of the Côte de Nuits.
Domaine de la Vougeraie Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot Monopole 1er Cru 2023
Clos Blanc de Vougeot is a legendary vineyard whose origins trace back to the 12th century, when the Cistercian monks planted it to produce their sacramental wine. This island of Chardonnay in the heart of Vougeot — a village otherwise dominated by Pinot Noir — remains a rare monopole to this day.
The wine expresses ripe white apple, subtle spices and a vibrant, persistent minerality. The structure is elegant and firm, with a long, refreshing finish.
