Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Fremiet 2022
The quintessence of Volnay. The historic estate, which includes the sublime Clos des Ducs, was once owned by the Dukes of Burgundy and has been rooted in the heart of the village in the hands of the same family for over 200 years. Authentic wines, of extreme minimalism, made by the d'Angerville family, who have always led the fight against counterfeiting, whether through pioneering estate bottling or their active role in the conception of the current Burgundy AOC system. Fully biodynamic since 2009, the purity of this superb producer's terroirs is maintained intact with the rigorous winemaking of François Duvivier, who delicately works the wines in harmony, respecting the rhythms of nature.

Wine Description
The Volnay Fremiet is one of the most emblematic crus of Domaine Marquis d'Angerville, coming from a 1.57-hectare plot located below Clos des Ducs, with shallow limestone marl soils and a steep slope. The result is a Pinot Noir of tremendous precision: it expresses all the delicacy and elegance of the Volnay terroir, despite its proximity to Pommard. It is a pure, vibrant wine, dominated by fresh red fruit notes, with a fine, silky mouthfeel and a final salty, mineral signature.
Tasting Notes
Fine aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, and rose petals. Fruit-forward and smooth attack, with refined tannins and a long, salty finish full of tension. A Volnay of rare harmony between fruit, structure, and minerality.
Food Pairing
Duck magret with cherries, roasted pigeon, wild mushroom risotto, soft-ripened cheeses with washed rind (Époisses, Langres).
Aging Potential
2027 to 2042. The elegance of the young fruit evolves beautifully over time, gaining aromatic complexity and depth.
Ratings
17.5/20 – Jancis Robinson
"Pale ruby. Slightly salty and serious nose, giving way to a robust and substantial palate. A wine with structure and promise of longevity. Juicy and very long, yet at the same time transparent, true to the classic Volnay profile. The finish is markedly dry, although the enveloping fruit elegantly masks the tannins. (JR)"
