Description

Morgon’s Côte du Py is among Beaujolais’ most iconic terroirs — and in the hands of Mee Godard, it becomes something profound, almost metaphysical. Here, the classic granite gives way to deeply weathered schist, diorite and iron-rich soils that shape a dark, mineral and structured Gamay of remarkable depth and elegance.

In the 2022 vintage, Mee Godard draws from her old vines and austere terroir to create a wine that is powerful yet fragile, muscular yet poetic. This is her most intense and mysterious expression, demanding air and contemplation. Aged in a combination of barrels and large vessels, it emerges firm, floral and layered, with tension between fruit, structure and stony depth.

According to William Kelley (Wine Advocate), her methods are minimalist and precise, evolving with each vintage but always in service of the terroir.

Jancis Robinson – 17.5/20
"Fierce and proud and head-tossing... with a heart carved from storm-lashed black marble. Yet now with a glimmer of tendresse. Tannins like a stenographer... violet against cold stone walls. A wine of cobalt and shadow, now illuminated."
