Description

Domaine Morey-Coffinet

Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaine Morey-Coffinet is today an essential reference of the Côte de Beaune. Under the direction of Thibault Morey, the domaine follows a clear philosophy: placing terroir at the center, through demanding organic viticulture, practices inspired by biodynamics, and a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. The wines stand out for their precision, the mineral expression of clay-limestone soils, and a remarkable capacity to evolve in bottle, revealing ever greater depth over time.

The Wine

Les Chambres is a rare and discreet expression of Pinot Noir in Chassagne-Montrachet, sourced from a small parcel located on the plain. The clay–silt soils give the wine a more delicate profile, focused on fruit purity and an immediate reading of terroir, without excessive structure.

At Domaine Morey-Coffinet, this cuvée is handled with the same rigor applied to the estate’s great white wines: certified organic viticulture, hand harvesting, and precise vinification designed to preserve freshness, balance, and varietal identity. Barrel aging, carefully calibrated in both volume and proportion of new oak, adds complexity without compromising the expression of Pinot Noir.

The result is an elegant red wine with a fine, gastronomic profile, faithful to the more subtle character of Chassagne’s red wines.

Tasting Notes

An expressive nose with notes of fresh cherry, raspberry, gentle spices, and a discreet earthy undertone. On the palate, it is fluid and balanced, with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a clean, precise finish. A wine that is approachable in its youth, yet with good aging potential.
