Volnay delivers heavenly elegance in his wines, always based on finesse and the beauty of delicate fruit (the Chambolle-Musigny of the south). And since we are looking for wines in this expression, at good prices (still), there is nothing better than another specialized producer with deep roots, since our d'Angerville is always sold out. Pierrick Bouley is the sixth generation of competent vignerons and works biodynamically on vineyards that are on average around 60 years old, as he himself says: “I am a vigneron before I am a winemaker”. Zero additions or removals in his winemaking, including zero sulfites until bottling.

Score: 92-94 Jasper Morris
" Very lightly reductive which I don't mind at all. There is a wonderful weight of fruit on the nose, dark cherry and raspberry, this wine looks like though it is really going to work."

This Bourgogne Pinot Noir Côte d'Or 2022 of the talented Pierrick Bouley is a captivating wine, made from 100% Pinot Noir from three plots — Long Bois, Petit Pré and Croc Martin — located at the base of the slope of Volnay, with southern and southeastern exposure. The clay-limestone terroir lends freshness and minerality to the elegant structure of this red.

Winemaking, since 2016, has been carried out without adding SO2 at the beginning, allowing maximum expression of fresh fruit. Fermentation begins naturally and is carefully monitored, being completed in French oak barrels for 12 months. The wine is bottled on the domaine after a slight adjustment with SO2, and may or may not be filtered, depending on the vintage.

With artisanal production limited to 8000 bottles, this is a pure, succulent and gastronomic expression of Pinot Noir from Côte d'Or, ideal for both the table and for relaxed moments.

A fragrant and expressive Pinot Noir, with notes of ripe raspberry, fresh cherry and a touch of damp earth and subtle spices. On the palate it is light, delicate and elegant, with well-integrated acidity, silky tannins and a charmingly mineral finish.

Harmonizations:

Perfect with grilled meats, charcuterie platters, fondue bourguignonne, raclette and soft cheeses such as Brie or Saint-Nectaire. It also shines on its own, served slightly chilled.
