Producer
Under the watchful eye of Romain Taupenot, 7th generation of this storied domaine, the family’s sovereign vineyard parcels have been farmed organically since 2001. The wines honour the true transparency of their terroirs, free from the influence of new oak or artifice. Absolute quality is achieved through Romain’s terroir-driven and respectful approach at this small domaine based in Morey-Saint-Denis.

Tasting Notes
Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2021 is one of the jewels of Taupenot-Merme’s portfolio — from a tiny 0.9 ha parcel of old vines (planted in 1959) in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Crafted with meticulous vinification and aged in French oak (up to 40% new), this is a Grand Cru that combines structure, freshness and rare mineral finesse.

The grapes are fully destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel for 8 to 13 days. Extraction is gentle and controlled with soft punchdowns and remontages. The wine is then aged 12–15 months in French oak barrels and bottled un-fined, rarely filtered.

Vinous review:
“Precise, with vibrant red and black fruit. A lively, well-defined palate with notes of Seville orange, black pepper and clove on a long and enveloping finish. A wine built for decades in the cellar.”
