Description
Crafted from 40 to 50-year-old vines in the lieu-dit Wolfreben — the “vineyard of the wolf” — nestled between the Clos des Capucins and the village of Kaysersberg, this Gewurztraminer offers a rare and subtle expression of the grape’s typically exuberant character, with a surprising freshness. The sandy, silt-clay soils over granite pebbles encourage early ripening and exceptional aromatic concentration.

Naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in old neutral oak foudres, the wine displays notes of rose petals, white tea, and pink peppercorn — floral and spicy, yet precise and vibrant. The palate is creamy and enveloping, balanced by clean acidity, culminating in a long and juicy finish.

According to Eddy Leiber-Faller, this vintage is “less ripe than previous years” and therefore more versatile at the table. The critics agree: Jancis Robinson awarded it 17 points, describing it as “very perfumed and smoky. Creamy, with lots of energy” — a wine to pair with cheeses, lightly spiced dishes, or even a seafood broth with cilantro.
