Producer
Rodrigo Méndez founded Forjas del Salnés with the guidance of Raúl Pérez, one of Spain’s most visionary winemakers. The bodega quickly rose to the top echelon of Galician wine, becoming one of the region’s most sought-after producers. These are true low-intervention wines — crafted with minimal sulphur (only 20–30 mg/l) and no additives — from extremely old vineyards, some over 200 years old. Saline, vertical and full of tension, these wines reflect the distinct identity of the Salnés Valley and possess exceptional ageing potential.

Wine
The Goliardo Tinto 2022 is the most direct and vibrant expression of Rodri Méndez’s work in Rías Baixas. Sourced from old vines aged between 45 and 180 years, this red blends native Galician varieties — Caíño, Loureiro Tinto, Espadeiro and Sousón — grown on granitic soils near the Atlantic coast.
Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, followed by 12 months of ageing in used 300L and 500L barrels and 1,500L foudres, with oak between the 4th and 10th year of use — always aiming for purity and elegance.
The result is a light, fresh and energetic red, with fine tannins, Atlantic acidity and notes of wild cherry, pomegranate, damp earth and dried flowers. A wine that unites rustic tradition with modern precision, crafted for the table and full of verve.
