Barolo DOCG — Piemonte, Italy

Producer
"One of my favourite Barolos. Harmonious, complete, and complex. They do not aim to be ‘modern’ or ‘traditional’, they simply seek to express the terroir."Pedro Parra, the world’s leading terroir expert, beautifully captures the essence of Marco Marengo’s wines.

A trained biochemist, Marco Marengo was called back by his father Mario to take over the family’s tiny cellar beneath their home in La Morra, working with parcels in some of the finest Barolo crus. Everything remains fully handcrafted by Marco, his wife Jenny, and their son Stefano — much to the delight of hardcore Barolo enthusiasts.

Wine
Marco Marengo’s Barolo Brunate Riserva 2018 is a rare wine, produced only in exceptional vintages from the oldest vines of the iconic Brunate cru in La Morra. This Grand Cru of Barolo delivers one of the most complete expressions of Nebbiolo, offering power and structure fused with elegance and aromatic complexity.

The 70+ year-old vineyard faces south on marl soils rich in limestone and clay, bringing both structure and freshness to the wine. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts and traditional maceration, the wine matures for 30 months in French oak barrels (30% new), followed by extended ageing in bottle.

This Riserva is produced in extremely limited quantities, with each bottle standing as a testament to the Marengo family tradition and the greatness of Brunate’s terroir.
