The Producer
Montefino Reserva is born from the Monte da Penha project, located in Portalegre, one of the most distinctive sub-regions of Alentejo. The estate, set between 400 and 600 metres of altitude, benefits from a unique terroir defined by granitic and clay-limestone soils, as well as significant elevation, which brings freshness and elegance to the wines.
Winemaking is led by Susana Esteban, one of the most respected figures in contemporary Portuguese wine, named Winemaker of the Year by Revista de Vinhos in 2012. Her work is recognised for its precision, authenticity and ability to express terroir with clarity.

The Wine
Montefino Reserva Red 2011 is a classic and elegant Alentejo red, with more than a decade of bottle ageing. Made from Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira and Aragonez, it offers aromatic complexity and maturity, making it particularly appealing to lovers of evolved wines.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruits, cherry, chocolate and delicate floral notes from Touriga Nacional. On the palate, it has good body, balanced structure and integrated tannins, with a gastronomic and enveloping profile.
Vinification took place in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, preserving the purity of the fruit. The wine was aged for 12 months in French Allier oak barrels, followed by extended bottle ageing, which brings complexity, softness and harmony.
Awarded 90 points by Robert Parker, this wine stands out as an excellent choice for those seeking Alentejo reds with evolution, elegance and depth.
