Description
A true jewel of Mount Etna, the Barbagalli 2019 is sourced from century-old, pre-phylloxera vines planted at an astounding 950 meters of altitude, among the highest in the appellation. This site yields a Nerello Mascalese of rare refinement and volcanic soul, shaped by extreme terroir, traditional methods, and minimal intervention.
The wine opens with aromas of wild red berries, volcanic ash, Mediterranean herbs and subtle balsamic tones. On the palate, it is precise, fresh and deeply mineral, with polished yet firm tannins and a finish that resonates with clarity and length. This is Etna at its most elevated, both literally and figuratively — a wine of tradition, tension and timeless aging potential.
