Description
Planted at extreme altitudes on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, the Contrada Santo Spirito vineyard yields one of the most refined and aerial expressions of Nerello Mascalese. These pre-phylloxera vines, aged between 80 and 90 years and cultivated organically in volcanic soils, give rise to a wine of delicate power and radiant precision.
Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in French oak tonneaux, the 2018 vintage displays aromas of wild red berries, crushed flowers, hot stones and volcanic spice. On the palate, it is vibrant, elegant and mineral, with taut acidity and fine, sculpted tannins. A wine of altitude and depth — a whisper from the volcano, long and persistent.
