Terroir & Viticulture
This wine originates from an exceptional 85-year-old vineyard located at 700 metres of altitude in the Serra de São Mamede. The site grants the wine a singular freshness and minerality rarely achievable elsewhere in the Alentejo. The field-blend vineyard, planted with traditional varieties, is manually farmed with great precision to preserve the authenticity of this unique terroir.
This amphora-aged wine was produced for the first time in 2017, following Susana Esteban’s experience with Filipa Pato on Sidecar 2015. The grapes were pressed, the must lightly settled, and then transferred to amphorae to ferment with indigenous yeasts, where it matured for eight months.
Winemaking follows the traditional methods of Alentejo talha (clay amphorae) with a touch of modernity: fermentation takes place in clay vessels without skin contact and under temperature control, allowing a purer and more elegant expression of the grapes.
