PORMENOR TRILHO EM PORMENOR BRANCO 2023
PRODUCER
Pormenor Vinhos
Pormenor Vinhos was founded in the Douro in 2013 by Pedro Coelho, with a philosophy rooted in detail and the pure expression of terroir. Working with high-altitude vineyards and embracing a minimal intervention approach, the project is defined by wines of freshness, precision and restraint, challenging the traditionally warmer style of the region.
THE WINE
Trilho em Pormenor Branco 2023 represents one of the most radical and precise interpretations of white Douro within the Pormenor range. Sourced from a single north-facing vineyard at around 600 meters of altitude, this wine explores a profile of tension, acidity and restraint, deliberately moving away from the more solar expressions of the region.
Produced from a blend of Rabigato, Malvasia Fina and Arinto, it is only bottled in vintages that the producer considers truly expressive. The approach is highly selective, reflecting the ambition to create a more austere and age-worthy white.
Winemaking follows a philosophy of maximum precision: whole-cluster pressing, using only free-run juice, fermented in 500-liter barrels. The wine ages on its lees for around 12 months, including full malolactic fermentation, followed by an additional period in stainless steel to refine structure and enhance clarity.
Aromatically, it is initially restrained, showing subtle notes of herbs, citrus and a pronounced mineral character, more suggested than overt. The absence of overt oak influence reinforces purity and a direct reading of terroir.
On the palate, it is tense, dry and deeply structured, with incisive acidity driving the wine from start to finish. It is a white that can appear closed in its youth, with a deliberately restrained expression where complexity is built more through structure than aromatic intensity. The finish is long, serious and marked by a persistent saline edge.
This is a wine designed for bottle aging, where time will be essential to unlock its full depth.
The previous vintage, now sold out, received strong international acclaim, earning 94 points from Robert Parker Wine Advocate along with a rare “Bravo!”, highlighting its distinctive character and ability to excel under challenging conditions.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideal for precise and refined dishes such as salt-baked fish, delicate seafood or Japanese-inspired cuisine. It also pairs beautifully with minimalist, vegetable-driven dishes where tension and minerality can take the lead.
