Few wine traditions in the world unite history, culture and authenticity as profoundly as Portuguese talha wines. Produced in large clay vessels for more than two thousand years, these wines represent one of Europe's oldest living winemaking traditions. Today, this ancestral method continues to inspire a new generation of producers seeking wines that are purer, more expressive and deeply connected to their place of origin.

At Temple Wines, our relationship with this world goes far beyond curiosity or fashion. For many years, Guilherme Corrêa developed a close friendship with Josko Gravner, one of the most influential figures in contemporary wine and the person most responsible for the international rediscovery of wines fermented in amphora. Our visits to his estate in Friuli have always left a deep impression. Gravner often speaks about energy, the connection between human beings and the earth, and the need to respect processes greater than ourselves. It is an almost spiritual vision of viticulture, reflected in wines of extraordinary depth, emotion and authenticity.

We are privileged to represent Gravner wines exclusively in Portugal and to share this vision with our clients. His work has become a global reference for amphora wines, orange wines and low-intervention wines, influencing producers throughout Europe and far beyond.

But the story does not end in Friuli. In Portugal, we find an equally fascinating expression of this philosophy in the Alentejo, where the tradition of talha winemaking never disappeared. Among the projects we most admire is Gerações da Talha, a small family production in Vila de Frades, where everything is done by hand, with immense attention to both vineyard and cellar. Their wines reveal rare delicacy, elegance and vibration, showing that talha wines can be simultaneously traditional and profoundly refined.

Further south, in the Algarve, producers such as Morgado do Quintão demonstrate how Mediterranean heritage and Portuguese identity can enter into dialogue with a contemporary and terroir-sensitive approach.

This collection brings together some of the most exciting talha wines, amphora wines and orange wines in Europe. These are wines united by a shared philosophy: respect for the land, minimal intervention, identity of place and the belief that great wines are born from authenticity.
