Le Ragnaie Rosso di Montalcino 2022 is a compelling expression of Sangiovese from one of Montalcino's most respected estates. Crafted by Riccardo Campinoti, Le Ragnaie has become internationally recognised for producing wines of remarkable elegance, transparency and terroir expression, focusing on freshness and finesse rather than power.

Located across some of the highest and most distinctive vineyard sites in Montalcino, Le Ragnaie follows a rigorous philosophy based on low yields, organic farming, spontaneous fermentations and long ageing in traditional large oak casks. Even the estate's Rosso di Montalcino is produced with the same meticulous attention and seriousness as its celebrated Brunello wines.

The Rosso di Montalcino 2022 is sourced from carefully selected vineyards in both Le Ragnaie and Castelnuovo dell'Abate, bringing together complementary expressions of Montalcino's diverse terroirs. Although classified as Rosso di Montalcino DOC, the wine is aged for an impressive 24 months in large Slavonian oak botti, a practice more commonly associated with Brunello di Montalcino.

Despite the warm and dry conditions of the 2022 vintage, Le Ragnaie succeeded in crafting a wine of exceptional balance and freshness. The nose reveals aromas of blackberry, black cherry, Mediterranean herbs, pine forest, dry earth and subtle hints of cured meat. On the palate, it is silky and refined, combining precise red fruit, vibrant acidity and a distinctive mineral character that provides energy and tension throughout.

The finish is long, savoury and saline, demonstrating Le Ragnaie's remarkable ability to preserve elegance and freshness even in warmer vintages. It is a Rosso di Montalcino of unusual depth and complexity, offering immediate pleasure while retaining the structure and sophistication associated with the estate's finest wines.

Awarded 93 points by Vinous, the wine was praised for its balance, freshness and mineral precision, confirming its status as one of the standout Rosso di Montalcino wines of the vintage.
