Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is the sacred grand cru of Chardonnay, the birthplace of Salon, Krug Clos du Mesnil and Les Chétillons de Pierre Péters, where the variety reveals its most uncompromising, elegant, deep and austere, mineral-limestone expression. The Robert family, now in its fifth generation represented by Claire Robert, cultivates 14 hectares of vineyards with total respect for the environment, of which 6.5 are located in Mesnil, next to the headquarters of this charming winery. The very low dosage, the malolactic lock and the meticulous use of wood in all the cuvées dictate the style of this precious and traditional Mesnil grower.
André Robert Les Horizons Extra Brut
Champagne Blanc de Blancs · France
100% Chardonnay · Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Grand Cru & Vitry Premier Cru · Malolactic-free
Les Horizons is the pure and mineral expression of Champagne-style Chardonnay, born from two distinct terroirs: 80% of the vineyards are located in the legendary Grand Cru of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, with the remaining 20% coming from the Premier Cru de Vitry. The 2018 base was partially vinified in oak barrels (20%), providing creamy elegance and aromatic amplitude.
The producer blocks malolactic fermentation, respecting the natural freshness of the grapes and accentuating the linear and precise character of the wine. After 3 years of aging on lees in a bottle, and with a minimum dosage of only 2.5 g/l, results in a cutting, refined and deeply gastronomic Champagne.
