2023 Hermitage Rouge – Domaine Marc Sorrel
The Hermitage Rouge 2023 from Marc Sorrel is an extraordinary interpretation of two legendary terroirs — Les Bessards and Les Plantiers — resulting in a wine with striking energy, elegance and mineral purity.
Highlights
Producer: Domaine Marc Sorrel

Appellation: AOC Hermitage

Terroir & Winemaking
This wine is a blend of the granite soils of Les Bessards and the clay-rich soils of Les Plantiers, a classic combination that delivers structure, tension and mineral freshness. Vinification is traditional, with long macerations and ageing in used French oak barrels, preserving the purity of the fruit.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep, luminous ruby.
Nose: Powerful aromatic energy, with red and black cherries, redcurrants, mineral nuances and a delicate stone-like note.
Palate: Round and elegant, with incredibly fine tannins that dissolve smoothly, giving the wine early approachability while maintaining structure for long ageing.
Finish: Long, vibrant, and marked by remarkable mineral purity.
Ageing Potential
Despite its youthful elegance, Guillaume Sorrel recommends drinking it within the first 3–4 years, or ideally cellaring it for 10 years or more to reach full aromatic and textural maturity.
