Château Le Pin 1993
Pomerol AOC | Bordeaux, France
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Description
Owned by the Thienpont family — also proprietors of Vieux Château Certan — Le Pin was purchased in 1979 and quickly established itself as one of the world’s most sought-after wines. The 1993 vintage was particularly favorable for Merlot, with the Right Bank performing better than the Left, which clearly benefits Le Pin.
In 1993, rather than the lush, opulent style sometimes associated with this label, Le Pin offers a more elegant and refined expression — a rare and captivating wine for connoisseurs.

Winemaking & Aging
• Grape: 100% Merlot
• Terroir: 2.7 ha parcel of sandy clay soils over iron-rich subsoil in Pomerol
• Vinification: Fermentation in stainless steel, aged in 100% new French oak barrels
• Notes: A challenging vintage, with harvest rains reducing yields but rewarding patient winemaking with a more delicate style

Tasting Notes
A fine and elegant expression of Le Pin. The nose is seductively aromatic with ripe cherry, clean leather, truffle, and hints of old wood. On the palate, silky and resolved tannins with medium body and a lingering, surprisingly fresh finish for its age. A rare opportunity for those who appreciate ready-to-drink wines of legendary pedigree.

Context & Prestige
Le Pin remains one of Bordeaux’s most coveted wines, with minuscule production and iconic status. The 1993 vintage delivers an understated but pure expression of this mythic wine — a collector’s gem and a window into a storied estate’s more serene side.
