Description

The certainty that extraordinary wines would emerge was absolute. After all, our friend Paul Krug has always carried this calling in his blood. Yet not even in our wildest dreams could we have anticipated what was about to unfold. From the very first wine tasted, the emotion was unmistakable, uncontrollable, building with every sip inside that remarkable 12th-century cellar in Pommard.

Paul’s meticulous understanding of terroir, his unwavering commitment to biodynamics, and the tireless work in the vineyards are more than enough to explain why this stands as one of the most remarkable domaines in France.

The delicacy of Chambolle-Musigny possesses something almost ethereal. And when that elegance meets the precise and contemporary vision of Domaine de la Commaraine, the result is a wine like this “Condemennes” 2023 — full of finesse, freshness and subtle charm.

This wine comes from a small parcel of particularly distinctive terroir, where fine clays rest upon a highly draining layer of limestone gravel. A soil that naturally gives rise to perfumed wines, with silky texture, mineral tension and a beautifully pure expression of fruit.
