Domaine de la Commaraine
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru “Roncière” 2023

Description

The conviction that exceptional wines would emerge from Domaine de la Commaraine was absolute. Paul Krug’s deep connection to Burgundy, his meticulous взгляд on terroir, and a rigorous commitment to biodynamics laid the foundations for one of the most exciting revivals in the region.

Tasting a Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru of this depth is always a special moment. When we visited the domaine, it became clear that extreme attention to detail and an intimate relationship with the soil are at the very core of this project. In the Roncière climat, this identity is expressed through a structured, vibrant wine full of nuance.

Roncière 2023 already reveals remarkable precision and a restrained nobility — a Pinot Noir that captivates not through sheer volume, but through elegant firmness, tension, and pure minerality. The fruit moves naturally between the red and black spectrum, supported by lively acidity and an energy that carries through to a long finish.

Ideally positioned mid-slope with a southeast-facing exposure, this parcel rests on poor, stony clay-limestone soils rich in iron oxides. This composition lends the wine firm tannic structure, controlled power, and a classic delicacy — the hallmark of great age-worthy Nuits-Saint-Georges.

A wine of character, crafted to evolve with dignity and to reveal itself in layers over time.

Tasting Notes

Bright, vibrant purple color. On the nose, notes of fresh fruit spanning red and black tones, with a subtle hint of garrigue. On the palate, it shows excellent acidity, great tension, and precision, with sustained energy from start to finish. Long, balanced, and deeply elegant finish.
