Description
“Jardin du Calvaire” 2024 is an elegant Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune, sourced from a cool, high-altitude parcel (400–450 meters) located on the hillsides of Vauchignon, an area of significant potential revealed by Etienne Sauzet in partnership with Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. This wine reflects a more mineral and austere expression of Chardonnay, marked by pronounced freshness, notes of greengage (green gooseberry), and a hint of purposeful reduction.
Grown on clay-limestone soils with a touch of sand, in a west-facing terroir, this is a true altitude wine, with a taut, structured profile, ideal for lovers of precise Chardonnays with aging potential.
Fermented and aged in foudres and 600-liter barrels, “Jardin du Calvaire” 2024 shows concentration, tension, and purity. Vinification follows the classic principles of the Sauzet estate, with minimal intervention and deep respect for the terroir.
Tasting Notes
Medium lemon-yellow in color. The nose is subtly reductive, opening with aeration to reveal notes of less ripe stone fruits and delicate nuances of green herbs and wet stone. On the palate, it maintains a vibrant, tense profile, with discreet white fruit, fine acidity, and an elegant, mineral-driven finish. A wine that will evolve beautifully with 2 to 5 years in the cellar.
