The Producer
Monte da Penha, located in Portalegre in the Alto Alentejo, is a project defined by a singular terroir shaped by altitude (400β600 metres) and a mix of granitic and clay-limestone soils. This combination allows for wines with greater freshness, elegance and ageing potential, standing apart from the warmer, more opulent profile typical of other areas of Alentejo.
The wines of Monte da Penha reflect a deep connection to place, favouring authenticity, balance and a classical expression of the region.

The Wine
Monte da Penha Fino Reserva Red 2003 is a mature Alentejo red with more than two decades of evolution, revealing a classic and fully developed profile shaped by the extreme conditions of a particularly hot vintage.
Produced from Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet, it shows an evolved ruby colour and an intense aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals very ripe fruit, bordering on overripe, alongside herbal nuances, floral hints and a marked presence of oak, characteristic of reserve wines from this era.
On the palate, it is generous, enveloping and balanced, with well-formed tannins and moderate alcohol (13%), maintaining a pleasant structure and harmonious profile. It is a wine that expresses the traditional Alentejo style, with maturity, richness and character.
An ideal choice for those who appreciate evolved wines with personality and classical identity.

Food Pairing
This aged Alentejo Reserva, with richness and depth, pairs beautifully with more intense meat dishes. Excellent with grilled filet mignon with fine herbs, oven-roasted dishes and red meats.
It also works well with Parmesan risotto, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine and aged cheeses. A perfect choice for special occasions and for those who appreciate wines with maturity and gastronomic character.
