The Producer
Pierre Gerbais is one of the most respected names of the new generation of Champagne growers, with an approach deeply rooted in terroir and sustainability. Based in Celles-sur-Ource, in the Côte des Bar, he works predominantly with certified sustainable viticulture (Ampelos since 1996), prioritising purity, precision and the natural expression of his vineyards.
His wines, including the rare Coteaux Champenois, reflect a philosophy of minimal intervention, aiming to reveal the character of place with authenticity and elegance.

The Wine
Pierre Gerbais Coteaux Champenois Rouge is a rare and highly sought-after still red wine from Champagne, made from Pinot Noir sourced from the Beauregard vineyard. Located at the top of an isolated slope, with northern exposure and strong wind influence, this parcel offers unique conditions for wines of freshness, tension and finesse.
In the glass, it presents a delicate and elegant profile, with notes of fresh red fruit, flowers and subtle minerality. The structure is light to medium-bodied, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity that extends the finish. A precise, gastronomic red of remarkable purity, offering a singular interpretation of Pinot Noir in Champagne.
Vinification follows a minimal intervention approach: fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no added SO₂, and the use of 50% whole clusters arranged in layers within the tank. Ageing for 10 months in tank preserves the wine’s freshness, energy and identity.
