Producer:
If Domaine Marquis d’Angerville has considered expanding beyond the Côte d’Or, it is because something very special is about to happen. The design of Domaine du Pélican, in the Jura, took 4 years of work until Yves Herody, the geologist responsible for mapping the soils of d’Angerville in Burgundy, found what is most precious in the region - including vineyards of Jacques Puffeney. When Jura and Burgundy merge, an immense charge of energy, emotion and refinement is unleashed with each bottle opened.
Savagnin of race and verticality extracted from two of the best terroirs for this very serious white variety. The En Barby and Grand Curoulet plots. The soils are very diverse where this incredible Savagnin is born. Triassic loam in different colors; Bajocian limestone rocks over gray loam; and Liassic loam/limestone.
Wine:
Acidity to shake the winery floor. A more vertical and linear wine than Domaine's Chardonnay. Ouillé means that the wine, when aging in old and large barrels, has been attested and has not developed the flower veil in its profile.
Score: 17.5 on Jancis Robinson
