It is incredible that Le Puy still goes unnoticed even by the eyes of Bordeaux connoisseurs, despite its 400 years of history. It is authentic. It is surprising. It is rich in personality and history. It stands out for being born in the small AOC Francs. It is made almost exclusively from the Merlot grape variety, and has never been classified by any ranking. Its natural philosophy practiced in the vineyards and in the cellar is not at all common in the region: in 1868 it already questioned the use of sulphites in winemaking. Its roots are in limestone soils that extend from the plateau of the glamorous neighbouring Saint-Émilion.
Wine:
85% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec and 1% Carménère. Matured in used oak barrels and casks for 24 months. 13 mg/l of sulfites.
Fantastic floral nose, perfumed, with notes of forest and light graphite. Finish that carries freshness and limestone energy. Very far from what we have in the classics of the left bank, this is a wine with accessible tannins that allow the Emilien to be contemplated immediately. Magnum bottle.
