Domaine Felettig

The Domaine Felettig

Domaine Gilbert et Christine Felettig is a family-run Burgundy estate with deep roots and a resolutely artisanal approach. Founded by Henri Felettig in the late 1960s, the domaine has gradually evolved to its current size of around 13 hectares, spread across Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and Beaune. The philosophy is simple and rigorous: to work the vineyards with absolute respect for the soils and to intervene as little as possible in the cellar, so that each wine expresses with purity, freshness, and elegance the identity of its terroir.

(This introduction works well across all technical sheets and collection pages.)

Domaine Gilbert et Christine Felettig

Corton Les Grandes Lolières Grand Cru 2023 | Burgundy – Temple Wines

Description

Les Grandes Lolières is a climat located on the slope of the Corton hill, immediately below Le Rognet, benefiting from a privileged position that combines structure, balanced ripeness, and natural freshness. This cuvée from Domaine Felettig, produced since the 2018 vintage, comes from a small 0.30-hectare parcel planted predominantly with vines around 55 years old.

The 2023 vintage proved exceptional for this Grand Cru. The vines did not suffer from water stress, yields remained balanced, and alcohol levels were moderate, allowing for a particularly harmonious expression of Pinot Noir. Vinification favors gentle extraction, with partial use of whole clusters, and extended aging in carefully selected barrels, respecting the natural density of the terroir without excess.

The result is a Corton of great class, combining depth and energy with remarkable textural elegance.

Tasting Notes

Deep, luminous ruby color. The nose reveals intense and precise red fruit, with notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, and a subtly spicy undertone. On the palate, density and suppleness are perfectly balanced, with refined tannins and a firm yet elegant structure. The finish is long and harmonious, supported by excellent freshness.

According to Jasper Morris, this is the best Corton produced by the domaine since the inception of this cuvée, highlighting the wine’s energy, fruit quality, and overall precision.

It also received 93–95 points from Robert Parker (Wine Advocate):

“From a site that has been liable to attain extremes of ripeness due to derisory yields, Felettig's effort to rehabilitate this parcel have paid off with the 2023 Corton Grand Cru Les Grandes Lolières in the form of better balance. Offering up aromas of smoky cassis, incense, petals and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and dense, with a lively, layered palate and a long, mineral finish.”
