Domaine Morey-Coffinet: Precision and Elegance in the Côte de Beaune
Domaine Morey-Coffinet is one of the most respected estates in Chassagne-Montrachet, renowned for producing some of the Côte de Beaune's most refined Chardonnays. Today, the domaine is led by Thibault Morey, who farms the vineyards under certified organic and biodynamic principles, focusing on low yields, minimal intervention and a profound respect for terroir.
Each vineyard parcel is vinified separately to reveal the unique identity of every climat, resulting in wines of remarkable purity, energy and ageing potential.
Wine
Domaine Morey-Coffinet Ladoix Blanc 2023
Ladoix Blanc 2023 comes from a vineyard parcel located on the upper slopes of Ladoix, directly extending the prestigious Premier Cru Les Bréchons and the Mourottes en Grand climat. This privileged site, combined with its east-facing aspect, allows for slow, even ripening while preserving exceptional freshness.
The approximately 30-year-old vines are planted on white marl and clay soils, a combination that gives the wine its tension, mineral depth and remarkable aromatic precision.
Following hand harvesting, the must ferments naturally before ageing for 11 months in 350-litre French oak barrels, evenly divided between new oak, one-year-old barrels and two-year-old barrels. The wine then spends a further two months in stainless steel tanks to stabilise before bottling. It undergoes only a light fining and is bottled without filtration.
The nose reveals aromas of Sicilian lemon, pear, green apple, white flowers, fresh hazelnut and delicate smoky notes. The palate is creamy yet driven by vibrant acidity and pronounced limestone minerality, leading to a long, precise and exceptionally elegant finish.
A Chardonnay that combines the richness characteristic of the Côte de Beaune with remarkable freshness, perfectly expressing the refined style of Morey-Coffinet.
