Upon her return to Portugal after years of study and experience abroad, including a bachelor’s degree from the “Harvard of viticulture and oenology”, the University of Adelaide, and internships with spectacular producers in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Stéphane Ogier in Côte-Rotie, the “Anna of the world” decided to reveal a new and incredible Alentejo. From her admirable trials, which range from 700 metres above sea level in the Serra de São Mamede to the sea level of her vineyards on the Alentejo Coast, the refinement, precision and freshness reverberate with contagious energy. The exploration of the terroir, organic cultivation and unique care with viticulture give life to extremely vertical wines full of “drama factor”.
Wine:
From the vineyards planted in the cool sands of the Atlantic coast: Alvarinho (75%] and Loureiro (25%]. The grapes were hand-picked at night, after the bunches were selected, they were pressed, followed by a period of cold decantation for 24 hours. Fermentation was spontaneous and they aged separately: the Alvarinho in a 2000-litre Slovenian foudre and the Loureiro in a 500-litre used oak barrel, for 10 months. After this period, a second stage of the blend followed in stainless steel with fine lees for 8 months.
