Pormenor Tinto 2021 Jeroboam is a remarkable expression of contemporary Douro winemaking, crafted by Pedro Coelho and the team at Pormenor Vinhos. Produced from old vineyards in Soutelo do Douro, planted on blue schist soils with traditional Portuguese varieties including Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Amarela and Rufete, this wine embodies a fresher, more precise and terroir-focused vision of the Douro Valley.

Founded in 2013, Pormenor Vinhos has established itself as one of the most distinctive projects in the region, working with high-altitude vineyards and a philosophy of minimal intervention. The objective is to reveal the elegance, freshness and authenticity of Douro terroirs, moving beyond the richer and more powerful styles traditionally associated with the region.

The 2021 vintage represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of Pormenor Tinto. Fermented in stainless steel with 100% whole clusters, the wine was subsequently aged in large 8,000-litre oak vats, replacing the smaller barrels previously used. This change allowed the fruit to take centre stage, enhancing purity, freshness and texture while minimising the influence of oak.

The exceptional growing conditions of 2021 delivered slow and even ripening, resulting in a wine of remarkable balance and definition. Aromas of black and blue fruits are complemented by earthy nuances, crushed stone minerality and subtle floral notes. On the palate, fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity and moderate alcohol create a harmonious structure with impressive depth and elegance.

Awarded 93 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, critic Luis Gutiérrez praised the wine's harmony, completeness and depth, describing it as "one of the great bargains from the Douro."
