The Producer
Montefino is part of the Monte da Penha project, located in Portalegre, one of the most distinctive areas of Alentejo. With vineyards planted between 450 and 600 metres of altitude, on granitic and clay-limestone soils, this region enables the production of wines with freshness, elegance and significant ageing potential.
The influence of altitude and the microclimate of the Serra de SΓ£o Mamede results in wines that are more refined, balanced and uniquely expressive within the Alentejo landscape.

The Wine
Montefino Red 2013 is an elegant and evolved Alentejo red, awarded 88 points by Robert Parker. Produced from a balanced blend of Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet sourced from high-altitude vineyards, it reveals a classic and refined expression.
With more than a decade of evolution, it shows a complex tertiary nose, with notes of dried leaves, spice, earth and subtle hints of raisined fruit. In the glass, it retains a ruby colour with slight evolution. On the palate, it is polished and medium-bodied, with resolved tannins and lively acidity that brings freshness and remarkable drinkability.
An elegant and ready-to-drink Alentejo red, ideal for those seeking wines with maturity, balance and authenticity.
Vinification took place in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, preserving the purity of the fruit. Around 30% of the wine was aged in French Allier oak barrels for at least 12 months, with the remainder kept in stainless steel, ensuring subtle oak integration and respect for the wineβs profile.
With a limited production of approximately 27,900 bottles, this wine stands out as an excellent option for lovers of evolved and gastronomic wines.
