Moreish Pelicular 2024
Bairrada – Portugal
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Description
Moreish is the personal project of Luís “Faísca” Lopes, one of the most restless and respected winemakers of his generation. Following formative experiences at Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Burgundy and a decade as winemaker at Quinta da Pellada, Luís Lopes is now responsible for the wines of Domínio do Açor. He also collaborates with António Madeira and Quinta das Marias in the Dão, while signing the wines of Palacio Quemado in Extremadura, Spain.
The Moreish wines exist outside any denomination of origin. Produced from small parcels, often old vines at altitude, they cannot mention grape varieties or regions on the label, resulting in coded names that reinforce the project’s free and experimental nature.
Moreish Pelicular 2024 is a white wine with an orange soul, made exclusively from Maria Gomes (Fernão Pires), grown on rare marne bleue soils — blue marls typical of Bairrada, similar to those found in the French Jura.
The first third of fermentation took place in a traditional lagar with skins, followed by pressing and completion of fermentation in used barrels. Skin maceration lasted one week, giving structure, texture and an aromatic profile marked by spice, stone fruit and a subtle oxidative touch.
It is a bold, saline wine with tension, yet also balance and depth. A vibrant and unconventional expression of Maria Gomes.

Tasting Notes
Slightly deeper colour, typical of a lightly skin-contact white. The nose shows subtle notes of orange, chamomile and ripe fruit, with remarkable elegance and restraint.
On the palate, it is vibrant, precise and highly energetic, with fine texture, electric acidity and a long, mouthwatering finish. A white of strong character, deeply gastronomic and with excellent ageing potential.
