PORMENOR A DE ARINTO 2024
PRODUCER
Pormenor Vinhos
Pormenor Vinhos was founded in the Douro in 2013 by Pedro Coelho, with a philosophy rooted in detail and the pure expression of terroir. Working with high-altitude vineyards and embracing a minimal intervention approach, the project is defined by wines of freshness, precision and restraint, challenging the traditionally warmer style of the region.
THE WINE
A de Arinto 2024 represents a deliberate exception within the Pormenor range. In a region where Arinto is typically used in blends to provide acidity, Pedro Coelho chose to explore it as a single varietal after identifying a high-altitude vineyard planted on granite soils capable of expressing a distinct and independent character.
Sourced from this elevated site, the wine comes from a naturally productive variety, yet one subject to significant yield variation depending on vintage conditions. In 2024, the wine maintains the defining tension between ripeness and acidity, offering a particularly precise reading of the grape.
The winemaking approach is designed to balance the incisive nature of Arinto: whole clusters undergo a short pre-fermentative maceration overnight, adding volume and texture before pressing. Fermentation takes place in 300- and 400-liter barrels, where the wine ages on its lees for around one year, followed by an additional period in stainless steel to stabilize and refine the final blend.
Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, contributing to a broader integration of acidity without compromising its structural energy.
Aromatically, the wine is expressive and complex, showing notes of yellow fruit, ripe citrus and flowers, alongside subtle fermentative nuances and a delicate bakery-like character. On the palate, it combines tension and depth, with a textured mouthfeel supported by firm, precise acidity. The finish is long, saline and marked by persistent minerality.
A small-production wine with strong identity, demonstrating the potential of high-altitude Arinto in the Douro, in a style that privileges texture, freshness and complexity.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideal for more complex and textural dishes such as oven-roasted fish, cod in less traditional preparations, poultry or structured vegetable-based cuisine. Its acidity and salinity also allow excellent pairing with moderately rich dishes and fermented elements.
