Producer

Quinta de Sant'Ana is one of the most compelling estates in Portugal's Lisbon wine region. Located in Gradil, Mafra, it combines more than four centuries of history with rigorous certified organic viticulture and a contemporary vision of great Atlantic wines.

Under the direction of James Frost and with António Maçanita as consulting winemaker, the estate focuses on small-scale production from carefully selected vineyard parcels, embracing minimal intervention in the cellar. The result is a collection of wines defined by elegance, freshness, aromatic purity, and a strong sense of their clay-limestone terroir.

Wine

Quinta de Sant'Ana Sauvignon Blanc 2024 comes from a tiny vineyard parcel of just 200 vines, planted on clay-limestone soils on an east-facing slope in Gradil, Mafra.

The Atlantic climate, with cool mornings and warm afternoons, allows for slow, balanced ripening, preserving the variety's vibrant acidity and delicate aromatic profile. Following gentle pressing of the destemmed grapes, the juice undergoes a slow, low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks before ageing for five months on its fine lees in the same vessel.

The result is a remarkably refined Sauvignon Blanc, far removed from the exuberant style often associated with the variety. Delicate aromas of green asparagus, elderflower and fresh herbs are complemented by pronounced stony minerality, vibrant tension and a long, precise, elegant finish.

Produced in just 600 bottles, it offers a rare and deeply Atlantic expression of Sauvignon Blanc in Portugal.
